To make agriculture more sustainable and efficient, Sanzar Group is working on a significant project focused on sugarcane and tobacco cultivation in Cuba.
Key insights
- Collaboration with AZCUBA and TABACUBA: Sanzar Group is collaborating with AZCUBA and TABACUBA, two key entities in Cuba’s agriculture sector. Together we are addressing pressing challenges in sugarcane and tobacco farming.
- Research partnerships: we work with research institutions such as GEOCUBA, INICA (Instituto de Investigaciones de la Caña de Azúcar) and the Instituto de Investigaciones del Tabaco.
- International project to cut agrochemical waste: our shared goal is to lead an international project that uses satellite imagery and machine learning tools to significantly reduce the use of agrochemical inputs in sugarcane and tobacco.
- Precision agriculture at its core: our software gives detailed figures in kg/ha for the main fertilization components, Nitrogen (N), Phosphorus (P) and Potassium (K). With this precision, farmers can allocate resources much more accurately.
