Marco Ruano of Sanzar Group discusses AI and big data in precision farming with Tinku

Marco Ruano, CEO of Sanzar Group, was recently interviewed by Tinku, a business media outlet, about the company’s role in precision agriculture and livestock farming using artificial intelligence and big data.
With a background in aeronautical engineering and a career at Airbus, Ruano has led Sanzar Group towards the technological forefront of agriculture. In the interview he explained how the company uses drones and satellites to collect precise crop data, which allows more efficient diagnoses and better informed agricultural decisions. This technology improves efficiency and reduces costs, and it also contributes to environmental sustainability by cutting fertiliser use.
Sanzar Group is also involved in projects in South America, particularly in Paraguay, with crops such as soya, wheat, rice and maize. Ruano stressed the importance of big data in agriculture: the more data is gathered, the better the results and improvements offered to producers.
Finally, he talked about the challenge of introducing new technologies in a traditional sector like agriculture. Although there may be some initial resistance, Ruano is confident that the tangible benefits and efficiency of Sanzar Group’s technology will convince producers of its value, especially the precision in fertiliser use for more sustainable agriculture.
