Exploring the future of AgriFoodTech in Spain: our experience at the MEET-UP on acceleration

On 30 January, Sanzar Group attended the MEET-UP on the AgriFoodTech Acceleration Ecosystem in Spain, an event that brought together startups, investors and industry leaders to discuss the future of innovation in agriculture and food production.
The importance of acceleration in AgriFoodTech
The AgriFoodTech sector is going through a major transformation, driven by technologies such as artificial intelligence, field sensorisation, satellite data analysis and GIS platform integration. With sustainability and efficiency becoming ever more important, good acceleration programmes are essential for startups to scale their solutions and make a real impact.
Key takeaways from the MEET-UP
During the event, we attended presentations and panel discussions on topics such as:
- The role of accelerators in supporting AgriFoodTech startups.
- Technological trends shaping the future of agriculture and food production.
- Investment challenges in AgTech, from early-stage funding to scaling ventures.
- Success stories of startups that have grown through these acceleration programmes.
The session was also a good networking opportunity, which allowed us to connect with companies and entrepreneurs aligned with Sanzar Group’s mission.

Potential collaboration with AgrifoodTEF
One of the most valuable outcomes of our participation was the chance to build a stronger relationship with key players in AgriFoodTech. In particular, we had useful discussions with AgrifoodTEF, and we are now exploring a potential collaboration.
AgrifoodTEF is dedicated to testing and experimenting with artificial intelligence in the agri-food sector, an area closely aligned with Sanzar Group’s expertise in GIS platforms, IoT sensor integration and AI-driven predictive models. Our conversations focus on how we can contribute to their testing and validation processes, using technology to optimise agricultural production and decision-making.
This potential partnership could be an important milestone in the integration of AI-driven solutions for AgriFoodTech.
Joining the Wayra acceleration programme
Another major outcome of this MEET-UP is that we have been accepted into the Wayra acceleration programme. This is a significant milestone for Sanzar Group, as it gives us access to mentoring, investment opportunities and connections within Telefónica’s innovation ecosystem.
Being part of Wayra will speed up the development and scaling of our solutions and help us bring our technology to the AgriFoodTech sector more effectively. We want to use this opportunity to refine our business model, expand our market reach and bring more value to the industry.
Final thoughts
Attending this MEET-UP gave us first-hand insight into the opportunities and challenges facing the sector, as well as new collaboration opportunities that could increase our impact on AgriFoodTech. The connections we made are already opening doors to strategic partnerships and growth opportunities.
We will keep taking part in these spaces to take our solutions to the next level and contribute to the growth of AgriFoodTech in Spain.
